Thanatopsis was a California Bay Area progressive thrash-death metal band from the early 90's. Influenced by bands like Death, Pestilence, Cynic, Atheist, Morbid Angel, and also jazz. They appeared during the dawn of the modern death metal era and feature some old school influences as well as some features that were well ahead of their time.
